Created without CMR substances

Carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive-toxic — linked to cancer, genetic mutation and reproductive harm. Banned from our workshop from day one.

The parfum loophole

In fragrance, one word — “parfum” — can legally hide dozens of undisclosed chemicals, including hormone disruptors. Most luxury brands rely on it. We refuse to.

The things worth understanding.

What does “CMR-free” actually mean?
CMR stands for Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction — substances linked to cancer, DNA mutation and reproductive harm. In skincare and cosmetics they are strictly banned because they touch your skin. The home fragrance industry does not share the same strict laws: mainstream regulation only bans individual compounds after years of use. We refuse to wait for the law to catch up — we enforce a blanket ban on all CMR substances from day one. If a compound is flagged as a CMR, it never enters our workshop.
What are parabens?

A family of synthetic preservatives (methyl-, propyl-, butylparaben and others) used to extend shelf life. They are studied for their ability to mimic oestrogen in the body, which is why we leave them out entirely.
What are phthalates?

A group of chemicals often used to make synthetic fragrance last longer and to soften plastics. Several are recognised endocrine disruptors — so none appear in our formulations.
What are PEGs and silicones?

PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are petroleum-derived carriers and thickeners; silicones are synthetic polymers used to alter texture. Neither has any place in a fragrance you breathe, so neither is in ours.
Why is “parfum” on a label a problem?
Because it is a legal masking term. Trade-secret rules let companies list “parfum” or “fragrance” as a single ingredient, hiding a proprietary cocktail of up to hundreds of synthetic chemicals — including hidden phthalates and endocrine disruptors. You have a right to know what you are breathing into your home. We bypass the loophole entirely by mapping out every scent component transparently.
Are your diffusers and candles pet-friendly?
By conscious design. Many pure essential oils commonly used in home fragrance are known to be toxic to cats and dogs when diffused or burned nearby. That is exactly why our reed diffusers are made with meticulously clean fragrance oils, formulated without the essential oils known to be toxic to cats and dogs. We are also developing a dedicated line of clean candles formulated with pets in mind. As with any fragrance, we recommend diffusing in a ventilated space and checking with your vet if your pet has specific sensitivities.
What is paraffin wax, and why don’t you use it?
Paraffin wax is a non-renewable, cheap by-product of crude-oil refining. Studies have detected combustion by-products — including benzene and toluene — in paraffin candle smoke. We reject petroleum bases completely, opting for a clean, slow, soot-free burn in plant-based coconut and rapeseed wax.
Why don’t you use soy wax?
While soy is marketed as eco-friendly, its global supply chain is deeply problematic — a leading driver of deforestation in South America, and mostly genetically modified and heavily sprayed. To ensure environmental integrity we use a premium blend of natural coconut and rapeseed wax: 100% non-GMO, zero soy, responsibly sourced from the UK and Europe.
Is your diffuser base really free of a hazard warning?
Yes. Traditional reed diffusers rely on harsh petrochemical solvents that are highly volatile and force brands to print industrial hazard symbols on their packaging. We use a non-hazardous, high-performance base that delivers a strong, consistent fragrance throw without them — GMO-free, VOC-free, vegan-friendly and phthalate-free, carrying no hazard classification of its own.
