Meet the founders

We questioned it — then we changed it.

We are Amanda and Michele — neighbours, friends, and two women whose health journeys changed the questions we asked about the products entering our homes. Michele had beaten cancer, and Amanda was navigating perimenopause alongside two children and a demanding corporate career. We shared the same thinking: more conscious of what went into our food, our wellbeing and our hormones.

We loved luxury home fragrance — candles, diffusers and we always bought luxury brands that we thought were rooted in wellness. Then we started to look more closely, and found paraffin wax dressed up as ‘mineral wax’, and dozens of chemicals hidden behind the single word ‘fragrance.’

We could not find the transparency we wanted. So we trained as chandlers, studied aromatherapy, and created the brand we couldn’t find — the House of Intent. Luxury home fragrance without carcinogens, parabens, phthalates, silicones or PEGs — made for women who want their homes to smell beautiful, without the hormone disruptors.

We are not simply another candle company. We understand that at times our research, knowledge and direct opinions can be triggering for some, as not everyone wants to know about the legal loopholes in the home fragrance industry. But we are committed to raising the standards and expectations of the home fragrance market, and we will only achieve this by doing better, being better and creating better.
