House of Intent was founded in the British countryside by Amanda and Michele, two neighbours who share a love of candles, interiors and the country - and a growing unease with what sat behind their home fragrance.
We were long-time buyers of luxury candles. We appreciated scent, ritual, and beautiful design. But living in the Essex countryside, surrounded by open fields and seasonal change, made us question the assumptions the home fragrance industry has failed to challenge...

Home fragrance has evolved aesthetically, but not philosophically.
Even at the highest price points, most candles rely on paraffin wax and synthetic fragrance, designed for maximum scent throw. Often smelling artificial and overpowering, these are cheaper to mass produce, but are not focused on intentional well-being.
As founders, we approached the House of Intent as a design solution to this problem. Every element is the result of intentional choices;
- UK/EU ethically sourced vegan, sustainable, non-GMO plant based wax of coconut and rapeseed. No Paraffin, no Soy.
- Pure essential oils only, blended for layered, complex fragrance that supports your hormones and well-being.
