THE INDUSTRY STANDARD - AND WHY WE QUESTION IT
Most candles and home fragrance products rely on synthetic
fragrance blends. Although words such as 'natural' or 'botantical' are often used, these blends are engineered for consistency, longevity, and strong scent throw, and are legally grouped under the single term 'fragrance' or 'parfum.'
Behind that word can sit dozens of undisclosed compounds - chosen for performance rather than clarity or origin.
This approach has become normal. We believe it deserves questioning.
Scientific and regulatory bodies have increasingly scrutinised certain classes of fragrance-related chemicals; including parabens, phthalates and synthetic musks - for their potential endocrine-disrupting properties.
Also, they have a tendency to persist in indoor environments, our air and household dust....
This does not mean all synthetic fragrances are harmful. But it does raise important questions about cumulative exposure, indoor air quality, and how much information we are actually given...
